Just A Little While, Lord

Lord, I see you beckoning me
And the temptation is so great
but if you won't get too upset
I'd really like to wait.

You see, I have so many plans
that are yet to be fulfilled
I want to see them through
before my heart is stilled.

I can't just trust my flowers to anyone
I've given them so much care
They need my daily watering
I have to keep the weeds away--they're everywhere!

The hummingbirds came back this year
and if you take me now
who's going to make their nectar
-could be no one else knows how.

One Granddaughter will have just 2 more years
before she graduates-
I simply have to be there
since it's a very important date.

Another won't be far behind
and yet another, too..and my darling little Syd
How sad they all would be
if I missed a single kid



I know your streets are made of gold
and I'm anxious, yes, to see
but I'm just not ready yet
for you to be calling me.

I love the snow and if I go now
I won't see it again.
Still and peaceful snow
always gives me calm within.

You stand there with your arms outstretched
and I'll admit I have to smile
But Lord, I'm just not finished here
So please give me awhile.

A little more time to "smell the flowers"
and watch my family grow
When that time has finally come
Lord, I'm good to go!
