Welcome To Kacey's Corner

A child could teach the world so much
Like how to really, really care
How to look past color barriers
~and to see the person there.

A child could end all arguments
if given half the chance
Just a sudden giggle, a sweet little smile
or an innocent, loving glance.

No mean, mistrusting eyes we'd see
no stinging words we'd hear
Just total unconditional love
No enemies to fear

There'd be an arsenal of toys
a cache of teddy bears
~instead of missiles a child would launch
a hundred bluebirds in the air.

Instead of weapons of mass destruction
a child would fashion dreams
from mud pies and sweet lollipops
~in the sky, only bright moonbeams.

There would be no disagreements
but if so, the penalty would be
standing in the corner
instead of World War Three!

Can we see the world as children do
and face it unafraid
~make the battleground a playground
where future friends are made?

God said "A little child shall lead them"~
maybe it was meant to be
~where we'd live as brothers and sisters
in peace for all eternity.

You've got to be taught To hate and fear
You've got to be taught From year to year
It's got to be drummed In your dear little ear
You've got to be carefully taught.

You've got to be taught to be afraid
Of people whose eyes are oddly made,
And people whose skin is a different shade
You've got to be carefully taught.

You've got to be taught before it's too late
Before you are six or seven or eight
To hate all the people your relatives hate
You've got to be carefully taught.
