Dedicated To My Dear Friend Laura

I look into the window of her soul and see
a woman who is wise, although not young and free
A woman who has loved and cared beyond all expectations ~who knows her mind, and shares her heart who's felt all life's sensations
She remembers carefree days gone by ~nights filled with sweet romance ~of being the undeniable "belle of the ball" who never sat out a dance
She fantasizes about those days of being young and free
but she realizes life is good with many wonders yet to be
I see someone who yearns sometimes for carefree days gone by ~to recapture the vibrance of her youth ~catching every fellow's eye
Who maybe thinks of someone long lost to her and yet
the one she chose forever is the one she won't forget
He's the one who has stood beside her through years of ups and downs ~who may not be the Prince of Dreams ~but loves her smiles, accepts her frowns
He knows she has these troubling days but it's easy to remember she's still the beautiful girl he married though May is now December

Does she really want to be young and free
When the world is now her pearl
With little ones gathering round her skirts
The days pass in a whirl
The young girl she sometimes yearns to be
is a dream left unfulfilled
But the dearest dreams are hers today to enjoy at her will
When little voices say "I love you, Granny"
with soft kiss on her face No youth or beauty could even begin to ever take their place
No romantic nights could bring the joy
their innocent smiles convey What wonder to look forward to
with each glorius day!
